A Collection of Poetry, Summer 2023

A collection of poems I wrote over this summer…

ROCKPOOLS

Its own world on the shoreline,

Entire ecosystems within the rocks,

Small organisms weaving between the seaweeds,

Scuttling away into the shadows.

UNTITLED

Thinking and growing,

Growing and thinking.

PIGS

Why do they keep,

Cramming us into carriages,

Forced to press against each other?

They never do anything,

To stop the pushing and shoving,

Even though it’s been like this forever.

I don’t understand how these people,

Are allowed to run the country,

And we have to live like this.

MY MUM’S SEWING MACHINE

Older than me,

Older than my overloved bear,

Rattling away under the scrap fabrics,

Chugging onwards,

Unphased by the strain,

Unbreakable and strong,

My mum’s sewing machine.

DYSTOPIA

The streets I walked no longer felt welcoming,

An air of strangeness,

Something wasn’t right about me being there,

Their faces lit up by rectangular screens.
